Roundup offers chance to check bison’s health

South Dakota’s Custer State Park hosts some 1,500 bison

The roundup gives biologists a chance to monitor the bison’s health, vaccinate calves and auction off bison to reduce herd numbers. Managers try to mix their genetics with other herds to improve the health of bison populations across the country.
