Samara Trusso enters service as new EAB Chair

Samara Trusso, a regional wildlife management supervisor for the Pennsylvania Game Commission and longtime TWS member, was recently elected to serve as the new Chair of The Wildlife Professional Editorial Advisory Board.

The Editorial Advisory Board serves to guide the content of The Wildlife Professional and is a critical resource for the continued success of the magazine, a flagship member benefit. Trusso previously served on the EAB from 2011-2018 and is active board member of the Pennsylvania Chapter.

“I’m excited to serve The Wildlife Society’s membership in my new role as Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board. The Wildlife Professional is among my favorite things about TWS membership and I look forward to being involved with its publication in this new capacity,” said Trusso. “I hope in the role of Chair I can help continue enhancing this publication’s esteemed reputation and assist TWS in meeting its mission of inspiring, empowering, and enabling wildlife professionals.”

Trusso replaces Gordon Batcheller as the Chair of this volunteer board of up to 25 TWS members.  Batcheller served as Chair since early 2018 and stepped down from the position since he was recently elected as the next vice president of the Society.  EAB policies do not allow members to serve simultaneously on TWS’ Council.

Trusso was appointed as interim Chair by TWS President Miller on September 9, 2019, upon conclusion of the EAB’s election.  Her regular 3-year term will officially begin on January 1, 2020.  She has a M.S. focused on wildlife ecology from the State University of New York – College of Environmental Science and Forestry, a MS in communications management from Syracuse University, and is a graduate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Leadership Development Institute.
