Parks Canada aims to steer bears from Banff roads and rails

Parks Canada is trying to reduce bear encounters with people in Banff National Park by luring bears away from some of the park’s busier areas. The agency is logging small patches of dense forest in an effort to attract bears to forage in them and away from roadsides and railroad tracks. Wildlife officials plan to use remote cameras and GPS collars to monitor how well the effort works.
