Biological Diversity Working Group starts webinar series

The Biological Diversity Working Group of TWS recently launched a webinar series, and their next webinar, “Factors and Dynamics Affecting Species’ Adaptive Capacity to Climate Change,” will take place Sept. 16 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm EST. Working Group and TWS member Dr. Eric Beever, a research ecologist at the Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey, will use examples from across western North America to illustrate weather-based stress and refugial dynamics at multiple scales. The presentation will share ideas that challenge the assumption of spatial and temporal niche conservatism. It will end with a global, all-taxa investigation of the factors and dynamics that affect species’ adaptive capacity.
