Kelly O’Connor joined The Wildlife Society’s policy team in October 2021 and leads TWS’ Conservation Affairs Network and grassroots policy engagement efforts. She holds a B.S. in natural resources and an M.S. in natural resources and the environment from the University of Connecticut.

Before joining TWS, Kelly worked for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) focusing on permitting and policy development for state-listed species. She remains involved with wildlife conservation efforts in the southeast as a volunteer board member of the Gopher Tortoise Council. Kelly lives near Gainesville, Florida, with her husband, son, and Florida brown dog Finn. In her free time she enjoys birding, nature photography, knitting, reading, and paddling around Florida’s springs.
