Latif, Piaggio receive McAtee-Burger Award

The associate editors were recognized for their contributions to TWS journals

Quresh Latif, associate editor for the Journal of Wildlife Management, and Toni Piaggio, associate editor for the Wildlife Society Bulletin, are the 2023 recipients of the W. L. McAtee and G. V. Burger Award for Outstanding Service as Associate Editors.

The McAtee-Burger Award recognizes the outstanding work of an associate editor for TWS’ two peer-reviewed journals.

JWM editor Paul Krausman praised Latif’s work with authors to shape up manuscripts for publication.

“Quresh is an example of professionalism, hard work, and service to TWS and JWM,” Krausman wrote in his nomination letter. “His recommendations are considerate, well thought out, and spot on.”

Bret Collier, editor of the WSB, praised Piaggio for her thoroughness and her work to improve the quality of submissions.

“Dr. Piaggio represents all of the qualities of an outstanding Associate Editor and readers of the Wildlife Society Bulletin benefit from her commitment,” Collier wrote. “She is dedicated to quality scientific results that are useful and understandable by wildlife managers and ensures the quality of manuscripts published in the Bulletin.”

The awards will be presented at the 2023 Annual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
