TWS, as a participating organization in America’s Wildlife Conservation Partners, signed this letter to members of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. The letter asks members of the Committee to oppose the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act amendment to the Senate’s 2026 Farm Bill, which would make permanent restrictions on the disposition of feral horses on public lands found in appropriations riders over the past several decades. The letter points to the current state of horse and burro populations on BLM-managed lands, which are estimated at over three times the Appropriate Management Level, and the resulting impacts to native wildlife and their habitats on these lands.
