Grab a beer, sit back and relax in Raleigh

Conferences, while deeply fulfilling, can take a lot out of attendees — what with having to attend back-to-back sessions and events for several days at a time. With that in mind, The Wildlife Society brings you the Relaxing in Raleigh Networking Event — a chance for attendees of the 23rd Annual Conference to unwind, mingle and bid farewell to friends and colleagues.

Stick around on Wednesday evening from 7:30-10:30 p.m. to close out the conference with live music, local craft beer and down-home Carolina barbecue at the Raleigh Convention Center.

Detailed schedule

Begin your evening outside on the patio, where you can enjoy live bluegrass music courtesy of Mickey Galyean & Cullen’s Bridge. As you relax on the patio, feed your appetite with traditional southern favorites such as barbecue pulled pork sliders, hush puppies, banana pudding, and sweet potato and pecan pie. An antipasto spread will also be available, along with other vegetarian options.

Stop by the bar to compliment your meal with a chilled Hoppyum IPA — Foothills Brewing’s most popular beer — or stay true to the classic English style with a strong and flavorful People’s Porter by the same local microbrewery. Also on the beer menu for Relaxing in Raleigh are White Street Brewing Company’s crisp and refreshing Kölsh and Big Boss Brewing Company’s caramel and dark fruit Bad Penny brown ale. Cash bars will also be serving premium liquors, house wines, various imported and domestic beers and Pepsi products.

After a beer or two, you might feel the urge to hit the dance floor. Make your way inside where D.J. Randy Bennet’s stellar mixes will have the dance floor rocking. When you’re exhausted from dancing, find a table to sit and talk with friends and colleagues. Savor the food, the beer, the music and the friends. After all, you might not see them for another year!
