In the dense forests on the southwest coast of Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, camera traps catch a rare, hopeful sight—two small cubs following their mother through the dimly lit underbrush. The Bornean clouded leopard (Neofelis diardi borneensis) is listed as endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. Its population has struggled due to deforestation and issues producing and raising offspring. The sight gives researchers hope at the Orangutan Foundation, which collected the footage, because it shows that the habitat in the Tanjung Puting National Park is supporting a healthy and actively breeding population.
