TWS Chapter Supports Wetlands Preservation

The Kansas Chapter of The Wildlife Society has declared their support for the City of Wichita to build a new wetlands preservation park. While some of the land owned by Slawson Companies — a commercial real estate company — will be used for retail space and restaurants, as per the previous owner’s wishes, a portion of the land will be preserved as a park. The park will have trails, boardwalks and viewing areas and will be used for education purposes in order to bring attention to the environment. The land will also be used to help with stormwater drainage. Read more on Wichita’s NPR station.
