Tyler recently became the Wildlife Conservation Coordinator for Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, in South Lake Tahoe, California – where he will be responsible for resolving human-wildlife conflicts with homeowners and businesses in the community. Tyler previously served as a Lead Park Ranger for the Bear Management Program in Grand Teton National Park. He has worked as a Grizzly Bear Conflict Specialist with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Grizzly Bear Recovery Program and assisted with Grand Teton National Park’s Elk Reduction Program.
Tyler’s fieldwork generally involves responding to human-wildlife conflicts, specifically with bears. His current research interests include studying infectious diseases in wildlife, dental and oral pathology of large carnivores, wildlife biology and spatial ecology and employing unique strategies to reduce human-wildlife conflict. Tyler’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Master’s degree in Natural Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
