We are excited to host Natalie Johnston, Pacific Grove Museum Volunteer & Community Science Coordinator, speak about one of our most iconic Central Coast species, the monarch butterfly. Come join us as Natalie covers important topics that highlight all the factors that affect their population, and the crucial conservation efforts made to protect monarch butterflies (and other pollinators).

The talks starts at 6pm with plenty of time to socialize afterward.

San Joaquin Kit Fox Workshop

About this event

The California Central Coast Chapter of The Wildlife Society and California
Department of Fish and Wildlife will be hosting a workshop featuring San Joaquin
Kit Fox Biology. Species identification, survey protocols, and field methods will be
emphasized. Field methods include spotlighting, camera trapping, and den and sign identification.

This workshop will be held at a remote field site (Chimineas Ranch at the Carrizo
Plains) October 4-7. Bunk housing, tent, or car camping are available. Bunk
housing is limited and includes shared rooms only. Four-wheel drive is not required.
This workshop will be both mentally and physically challenging as we have all-day field session with
daytime and nighttime surveys. Temperatures can vary from 100 F during the day to 40 F or lower at night.

Pre-Registration for Members

Pre-registrants will be put on the waitlist for a lottery drawing which will take place
on Wednesday September 14. Selected members will be notified immediately
and full registration will include all lodging and meals. Additional workshop details
will be sent to selected members. Lodging fees go to the non-profit Chimineas Ranch Foundation.
