The Central Mountains and Plains Section of The Wildlife Society (TWS) submitted formal comments to the USDA and USFS in response to the proposed rescission of the 2001 Roadless Areas Conservation Rule (“Roadless Rule”). The Section represents TWS members in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Across these seven states, 7.6 million acres of inventoried roadless areas would be impacted by the proposed repeal of the Roadless Rule. The Central Mountains and Plains Section expressed its opposition to the whole-sale rescission of the Roadless Rule and outlined in detail potential harmful impacts associated with the proposed rescission.
