This presentation is geared toward citizens and wildlife professionals who want to make a change, but don’t know where to start. A Simple Guide to Policy breaks down the legislative process into practical, easy-to-understand steps, explaining how the government and Congress operate, how bills move through the legislative process, and how to find, read, analyze and track legislation. It also provides practical advocacy strategies, including contacting elected officials, writing letters and petitions, organizing supporters, and preparing for meetings with lawmakers and their staff. The goal is to help individuals move from simply caring about an issue to understanding how policy decisions are made and how they can effectively participate in shaping them. Hosted by the Student Development Working Group.
