Welcome to the TWS Military Lands Working Group

The Military Lands Working Group is intended to provide opportunities for members to exchange information, meet professionals dealing with similar situations, and promote awareness of natural resource conservation requirements on Department of Defense lands.

Goals and Objectives

Goals:

  1. Facilitate communication and the exchange of information among members of TWS interested in the management of wildlife populations on lands managed by the U.S. Department of Defense and the Canadian Department of National Defense.
  2. Enhance knowledge of wildlife professionals and students about the challenges and benefits of working on Defense/Defense Department lands in part by sponsoring workshops and symposia at the TWS National and various regional meetings.

Objectives:

To aid in the achievement of these goals, this Working Group proposes to:

  1. Provide regular communication among members of the Society experienced wildlife management on military lands through meetings, symposia, workshops, newsletters, specialty publications, and other means.
  2. Promote membership in TWS to wildlife professionals interested in wildlife management on military lands.
  3. Make recommendations to TWS Council for specific actions by the Society in the area of wildlife management on military lands.
  4. Provide information and technical assistance to journalists, government officials, other organizations, and the general public in the area of wildlife management on military lands.
