Saludos! My name is Carlos Dubon Hinojosa, and I am a proud Virginia Tech alum, where I earned dual B.S. degrees in Animal & Poultry Sciences and Fish & Wildlife Conservation. I am also an Associate Wildlife Biologist®. As an American Latino with roots in Mexico and Guatemala, I am honored to serve as your Interim-Chair. I founded this working group to uplift Latin American and Caribbean conservationists, strengthen communication and collaboration among researchers and professionals, and promote greater representation within the conservation field.

I currently work in environmental consulting in El Paso following the completion of a post-baccalaureate research fellowship. My research interests include wildlife population dynamics, invasive species management, urban wildlife ecology, biocultural conservation and the braiding of knowledge systems.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading and creating mixed-media artwork. During my time at Virginia Tech, I served in our student chapter and gained valuable experience in student and community engagement, university policy and advocacy for Latin American and Indigenous communities.
