Annual Meeting

Please join us for the Alabama and Mississippi Chapters of The Wildlife Society Joint Annual Meeting, to be held at the MSU Riley Center in Meridian, MS on September 7-8, 2017.

We are pleased to offer the opportunity for the Alabama Chapter members to travel across state lines into Mississippi. Not surprisingly, this year’s theme will focus on “Shared Issues,” with keynotes and discussions centered on the challenges that transcend our profession, no matter the locale.

Dr. Darren Miller, a member of the Mississippi Chapter and current Vice President of TWS, will headline with thoughts on national-scale conservation priorities. Additional invited talks will focus on shared Southeastern conservation challenges, along with changing public perceptions about natural resource management. As always, plenary presentations will be complemented by submitted oral and poster presentations exploring ongoing wildlife research and management in the Southeast.

This year’s joint meeting will offer a choice of activities on September 7 – participants can take their pick of obtaining Certified Wildlife Biologist contact hours via professional development programs on Wildlife Track and Sign Identification OR Environmental Decision Making. Not interested in a PDP? Then sign up for the Team Building Shooting Opportunity (cost of shooting event not included in registration). Spaces are limited in these activities, so be sure to register early and get your pick!

Lodging will be at the Drury Inn and Suites and the great folks at Visit Meridian will be providing shuttles between the hotel, conference center, and other downtown destinations. Information on a social on the night of September 7 will be provided.

Tickets are on sale now and early bird registration ends August 5th. Early registration will cover both days’ events, conference t-shirt, drink ticket for Thursday evening social, and Friday lunch.

For more information or to register, please see the joint meeting’s page at

Please make plans to attend, and pass the word along to others. See you in September!
