Efforts are underway to recover this species from the brink of extinction

The black-footed ferret was once believed to be extinct. Today, it remains one of the most endangered mammals in North America. But efforts are underway to recover the species and restore it to the landscape. In Colorado, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is working with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to return the black-footed ferret to the state’s eastern plains.
