Journal philosophy
We publish peer-reviewed, open-access research with management and conservation applications for wildlife practitioners. We prioritize the scientific merit and practical use of each submission. Our goal is to support authors in bringing scientifically sound work to publication, where it is freely available to those working to improve wildlife populations.
Aims and Scope
The Wildlife Society Bulletin is an open access journal for wildlife practitioners that focuses on evaluations of management and conservation strategies and innovative techniques for studying and managing wildlife. Suitable topics include:
- Assessments of wildlife management or conservation actions.
- Presentation of new tools and technology or evaluation of techniques for studying or managing wildlife.
- Descriptions of emerging research that addresses new ways of approaching management actions or proposes new conceptual models for understanding the implications of management.
- Retrospective analyses of wildlife management and conservation programs, including the reasons for success or failure.
- Opinion articles that combine original data with strong opinion regarding inferences from those data aimed to lead discussion among wildlife professionals.
- From the Field perspectives with data that hint at new research directions or insights into wildlife issues or essays of introspection by veteran managers and conservationists sharing insights gained over their careers.
- Special sections of articles with a common topic, often stemming from working group sessions or symposia (pre-approved by the Editor-in-Chief).
