The January/February issue of The Wildlife Professional

In our first issue of 2018, The Wildlife Professional takes an in-depth look at the struggle to contain the spread of chronic wasting disease in cervids.  In November, Montana became the latest state to detect the disease, bringing the count of affected areas to 24 states, two Canadian provinces, as well as Norway and South Korea.

Contributed articles include an exploration of wildlife myths, the Wisconsin Young Forest Partnership, a look at how endangered wildlife fared in areas hit hard by hurricanes in 2017, how backcountry winter recreationists affect forest carnivores, and why natural resource enterprises involving outdoor adventures help promote conservation.

Finally, 2017 saw former Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke take the helm of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Read about his biggest initiatives and what actions TWS has taken to engage with federal law and decision-makers.
