Community Outreach

Every year our Chapter reserves approximately $1,000 to sponsor local Community Outreach events. In the past we have funded Sacramento area Earth Week and Creek Week events, and for about the last 5 years, we have sponsored the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Nature Bowl program in northern California.

The Nature Bowl program targets 3-6 graders to participate in science-based activities emphasizing local and regional environments. Innovative strategies are used to teach and reinforce conservation principles, and the engaging activities challenge the students in critical and creative thinking.

Part of our Chapter’s mission is to educate the public about the conservation of wildlife resources, and by targeting young students, we hope that the knowledge they acquire in the Nature Bowl Program will influence their decisions throughout their lives…and some may even decide to join our profession!
