Watch: Tracking marine mammals with tiny space satellites

For the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, understanding marine animal movement is critical. Telemetry of animals, including sea turtles, whales and sharks, can help with managing offshore drilling, wind turbine placement and monitor the impacts of climate change. One option it’s pursuing is the use of NASA’s CubeSats — small satellites that can track tagged animals from space with more precision than current techniques.
