Housing shortage causes Antarctica research to wind down

The shortage has canceled or curtailed 67 research projects in the continent

The United States Antarctic Program is facing logistical challenges causing research in the continent to slow down. The National Science Foundation, which funds the research, canceled or curtailed 67 of the 131 projects funded for the 2023-2024 Antarctic summer. One main reason is a housing shortage, exacerbated by the pandemic stretching out renovation projects, which has made it difficult to house researchers and has driven up housing costs.
