USFWS dedicates millions to endangered species recovery

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will invest millions to recover four groups of endangered species

On the second anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced it will dedicate nearly $20 million for the recovery of endangered species. The funds will support four species groups, including Hawaiian and Pacific Island plants, butterflies and moths, freshwater mussels and southwest desert fish. This investment builds on the Service’s over $5 million in Inflation Reduction Act funding that was first announced in 2023. These funds will help complete the actions needed to recover these focal species within the next 10 years.
