Midland painted turtle considered a species at risk

The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada has declared the Midland painted turtle (Chrysemys picta marginata) a species of special concern under the Species at Risk Act. The committee determined the subspecies merited listing because of historic and ongoing wetland habitat loss in southern Ontario and increasing collisions with cars.
