Watch: Ongoing study examines eastern Oregon turtles
The northwestern pond turtles (Actinemys marmorata) in eastern Oregon are a unique population. The east side of the state is much drier than the west, raising questions about how that might change turtle behavior. Since the early 2000s, biologists with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have been studying these turtles, trying to assess their population numbers, their health, their activity and other information.
