New Jersey will continue bear hunt

A New Jersey state appeals court has rejected a challenge to the state’s expanded bear hunt. The state added a second bear hunt in, held in October, in an effort to control its growing bear population. Two organizations, the League of Human Voters of New Jersey and the Animal Protection League of New Jersey, as well as some individuals, sued, arguing that the state exaggerated the number of bear complaints to justify the second hunt. The three-judge panel rejected the challenge, saying that the state relied on scientific research to implement the hunting seasons.
