Migratory Bird 2016-17 Hunting Framework Released

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced proposed lengths and bag limits for the 2016-17 migratory bird hunting seasons. This proposed framework is the first to utilize a streamlined process in the hopes of providing more time for biologists to analyze survey data and to provide the public with more time to comment. The framework continues to reflect strong migratory waterfowl populations among other game birds. Included in the framework is a proposed duck hunting season length of 60 days in the Atlantic and Mississippi Flyways and 74 days in the Central Flyway, each with a daily bag limit of 6. Comments on the proposed regulations can be submitted until January 11, 2016.
