Video: Private Landowners Help Protect Habitat

Working Lands for Wildlife (WLFW), a partnership between the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and private landowners, is working to improve riparian habitats on private landowners’ properties as part of its Southwestern willow flycatcher program. The Southwestern willow flycatcher (Empidonax traillii extimus) is one of seven priority species WLFW is working to improve habitat for, and the birds rely on riparian land for nesting habitat. As part of the program, WLFW and landowners are repairing habitat through efforts such as taking out invasive plant species and replacing them with native species.
