Wildlife authorities are seeking more information after a manatee (Trichechus manatus) was discovered in Florida with the name “Trump” etched into its back. The federally protected manatee was first spotted by a boat captain in Crystal River, Fla. Both the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are investigating the incident. The Center for Biological Diversity is offering $5,000 for information that leads to a conviction for the etching. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said that the animal didn’t seem be seriously hurt as the letters were written in algae that covered its back.
