Watch: A midflight stopover for migrating monarchs

Monarch butterflies make an astonishing migration from throughout the United States and Canada to winter in the mountains of Central Mexico. But while Mexico may be the final destination, it’s not the only stop along the way. In Manchaca, Texas, monarchs (Danaus plexippus) gather by the thousands on a critical stopover as they make their way to the forests of Mexico.
