Lesser yellowlegs added to Ontario’s species at risk

The lesser yellowlegs has joined Ontario’s list of species at risk. The shorebird, which breeds in northern Ontario, is one of seven species recently added to the list. The lesser yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes) was classified as threatened. The additions also included six invertebrates. The striped whitelip (Webbhelix multilineata) and Suckley’s Cuckoo bumble bee (Bombus suckleyi) were classified as endangered. The Davis’s shieldback (Atlanticus davisi), purple wartyback (Cyclonaias tuberculata) and reversed haploa moth (Haploa reversa) were classified as threatened. The American bumble bee (B. pensylvanicus) was classified as a special concern.
