Government to Help Sage Grouse
As part of its effort to keep the greater sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) off the endangered species list, the Obama Administration announced Thursday that it will limit petroleum drilling and other activities on some of the bird’s habitat in the American West. This new plan would establish buffer zones around areas where male grouses gather for breeding, but will also allow permitted projects including energy development to continue.
