New TWS website will offer easy navigation and a refreshing look

The Wildlife Society is getting a new look that will appear fresher and more exciting and help members stay up to date on the Society and the wildlife issues they care about.

“As the professional society for wildlife biologists, our website is often the first place people go to when looking for wildlife news, resources or career information,” said Cameron Kovach, director of operations with The Wildlife Society. “As such, it’s important that we take a hard look at our website every few years to ensure that it is meeting the needs of our visitors.”

After gathering feedback from members, TWS moved forward with a new design to make sure the site is contemporary, informative and easy to navigate. Its last update was in 2014. Kovach was one of four TWS employees on the team that led the redesign process with Denver-based outdoor marketing agency Sage Lion Media.

Upon entering the new website, visitors will be invited in with bold colors and large, integrated images. They will have easy navigation to journals and publications, information on sections and chapters, the TWS policy toolkit, and the news center. An organized navigation and menu bar that will help lead viewers to what they want to visit on the website among the suite of TWS resources available.

The Wildlife Society hopes this new design enhances user experience by making it easier to find the resources and information they need. “I’m excited we’re providing our members with a fresh new website,” said Keith Norris, TWS’ director of policy and communications who was also on the redesign team. “This new site highlights the array of resources and opportunities that The Wildlife Society has to benefit our members throughout their careers in the wildlife profession.”

On the homepage, visitors will be able to quickly find information about how to join the Society, apply for programs like the Leadership Institute, effect policy change, sign up with sections and chapters, and more.

The refreshed news center will provide easy access to the latest articles written by the TWS communications team on wildlife research and news. Visitors can also search for articles specifically related to a geographical area, topic and other areas of interest. Non-members can also sign up to receive updates on TWS communications in this section of the website.

The website’s modern design still captures the essence of TWS by using its signature red color throughout. “While I’m certainly excited about the new aesthetic, I’m most excited about how easy the website is to navigate and how well it captures the values and mission of TWS,” Kovach said.

The redesigned website is set to launch Feb. 1. Keep an eye out for the new look!
