Wildfires in the western United States and much of the world have reached an unprecedented scale, creating new threats to wildlife and unique challenges for natural resource managers. In the July/August issue of The Wildlife Professional, our cover story looks at the effects of megafires on wildlife and some of the solutions that managers have come up with to address them.  Contributed articles in our special focus look at mustelids in western Canada and the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Other articles examine how public participation in nest watching programs soared amid the pandemic, how states are supporting wind energy while conserving wildlife and  integrating landscape architects in wildlife conservation. We also speak with Carolyn Finney, a plenary speaker at the upcoming Annual Conference, about her push for conservation organizations to tackle diversity issues.
