State-wide camera trap project ready to launch

Roland Kays is a guy with a lot of ideas. His latest one involves deploying camera traps at 20,000 to 30,000 sites in his home state of North Carolina. Kays is the head of the Biodiversity Lab at the Museum of Natural Sciences, which was open for tours during the recent student-professional mixer at the opening of TWS’ 23^rd Annual Conference in Raleigh, N.C. The TWS member has been the leader of the e-Mammal data management system, which was created for scientists and citizen scientist to collect, store and share camera trap data that will be used for addressing important scientific and conservation questions. His latest project is jointly supported by the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and N.C. State University.
