The Student Chapter Advisor of the Year award recognizes exceptional annual mentorship by a TWS student chapter advisor. The Student Development Working Group initiated the award in 2002 and awarded its first recipient at the 2004 conference.
Active and effective student chapters are needed to achieve The Wildlife Society’s goal of assisting in the development of the next generation of wildlife professionals, and the advisor is the backbone of the chapter. Involved and dedicated student chapter advisors also strengthen the Society’s membership recruitment and retention efforts by providing opportunities for student member involvement in Society activities. The award is presented annually to one student chapter advisor for exemplary contributions to the development of young professionals.
NOMINATION PROCEDURE
Student chapters are invited to nominate their advisor for the award by completing the Student Chapter Advisor of the Year Form. The completed Student Chapter Advisor of the Year Form must be uploaded via the online nominations system by May 1 at 11:59 PM ET. PDFs of over 20 pages will NOT be accepted.
