March 14, 2017: Lecture Series and Social Hour in Monterey – from 6-8. Lecture will be presented by Patrick Robinson who serves as the Año Nuevo Reserve Director and works primarily on how marine predators make a living in the open ocean by attaching biologging instruments (e.g. time-depth recorders and satellite tracking tags) to free-ranging seals and sea lions. March 18, 2017: Diablo Canyon Field Trip – Members Only – Not a member? Sign up for $10/year here. This field trip will tour the natural areas on the North Ranch property that are not accessible to the general public. This field trip will be led by biologist Kelly Kephart and will include amazing coastal views, stops at different habitat types, and discussion of their prescribed fire efforts. This is a family friendly event (strollers are not recommended), anyone under the age of 18 is free. Adults are a $15 fee and will include a CCCC TWS t-shirt! Registration is limited to the first 50 registrants, please sign up here for each individual attending (child or adult). **After you sign up you will be directed to fill out an encrypted registration form that will ask for your SS number, you can either fill it out on the form or call the Diablo organizer. This information is required for access to the property. YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL PAPERWORK FOR THIS EVENT BY FRIDAY, MARCH 3RD TO ATTEND – processing takes 2 weeks.
March 23, 2017: Natural Communities Conference – The annual Natural Communities Conference is planned for March 23, 2017, in the Liberty Room of Hodel’s Country Dining, 5917 Knudsen Drive, Bakersfield, CA. This one-day conference offers the opportunity to hear the latest research and management of species within the San Joaquin Valley and surrounding areas, network, and catch up with fellow biologists. April 8-9, 2017: Workshop: Declining Aquatic and Semi-Aquatic Herps of the Central Coast (details below) – Back by popular demand this workshop will include presentations by Dr. Sam Sweet and Jeff Alvarez on rare and common species from the California central coast region. Species identification, survey protocols, and field methods will be emphasized. Early Registration will open in March for California Central Coast Chapter members. Not a member?
