Wisconsin deer farms depopulated after CWD found

State and federal officials have paid Wisconsin deer farmers more than $330,000 so far this year in compensation for eliminating herds believed to be infected with chronic wasting disease. CWD was reportedly found on three farms this year, prompting officials to depopulate them, according to the Associated Press. Wisconsin is home to 380 deer or elk farms. CWD has been found at 23 of the facilities since 2002. Fourteen have been depopulated.
