Special Announcement: Covid-19 and 2020 Conference Plans
Dear WYTWS Members,
As all of you are aware, Covid-19 caused by a coronavirus, continues to impact our daily lives. Measures like social distancing, school closures, and event cancellations have become the norm to help control spread of this novel and relatively virulent disease. The WY-TWS Board and Conference Committee is not immune to these measures nor the disease and would like to update membership on future plans given current knowledge and understanding of Covid-19.
On March 13, leadership at The Wildlife Society advised chapters to postpone or cancel events until at least October 2020 in hopes that the Covid-19 pandemic would fizzle out. Last week, in line with this recommendation, the WY-TWS Board voted to change an in-person to teleconference meeting in late April. Given the current understanding of Covid-19 as well as numerous temporary restrictions and recommendations, the WY-TWS board is continuing to plan for our upcoming conference and hosting of the Central Mountains and Plains Section in November 2020.
We encourage members to continue to plan to attend, assist, and enjoy this event scheduled for November 17-19, 2020 in Lander, WY. The Board and all individuals responsible for planning and coordinating this event will continue to adjust as needed, and most importantly, keep members informed in the event of a scheduling change.
We thank all members for what you do for wildlife, and during a time of uncertain risk, doing what’s right to help keep each other safe, healthy, and alive.
The WY-TWS Board and Conference Committee
