NAUFWP Becomes a TWS Strategic Partner

The National Association of University Fisheries and Wildlife Programs (NAUFWP) has become a Strategic Partner of The Wildlife Society to further enhance both organizations’ efforts in support of wildlife education and the development of the next generation of wildlife professionals.

As a Strategic Partner, NAUFWP will collaborate with TWS to increase student engagement with TWS through TWS membership and/or annual conference participation. TWS will lead a collaborative effort to promote the benefits of NAUFWP membership and engagement to its more than 230 universities and colleges that have TWS student chapters.

“NAUFWP member organizations have been very supportive of The Wildlife Society, introducing their students to TWS and all that we offer to help students develop into well-connected and knowledgeable professionals,” said Ed Thompson, CEO of The Wildlife Society. “Through this more focused collaboration, we’ll develop new efforts and programs that will improve both organizations’ support of wildlife educators and students.”

Through the partner relationship, the organizations will increase the cadence of strategic discussions, giving them the opportunity to share new perspectives, resources, and ideas that will benefit students and faculty now, and also the future of science-based wildlife conservation and management.

“Involvement in TWS is critical for the professional development of our wildlife students and is important to our faculty who mentor these students.  We are excited for this opportunity to more directly collaborate with TWS through our new strategic partnership,” said Lisette Waits, president of NAUWFP and department head of Fish and Wildlife Sciences at the University of Idaho. “Together we can do much to help shape the future of the wildlife profession.”
