Annual Meeting

The Georgia Chapter of the Wildlife Society’s Annual Meeting is scheduled for February 24-25, 2022 in Covington, Georgia.

Registration for our upcoming Annual Meeting is now open! We are looking forward to seeing many of you! Details for registration, call for presentations, and awards are below.

ANNUAL MEETING DETAILS

PLEASE NOTE: This meeting will occur in-person. All attendees are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to attend and are required to wear masks indoors. If you are not currently vaccinated, a two-dose (Pfizer or Moderna) series needs to begin no later than January 19th OR a single dose (Johnson & Johnson) is needed no later than February 9th to be considered fully vaccinated at the meeting. WHEN: Thursday, February 24 & Friday, February 25, 2022
LOCATION: Georgia Wildlife Federation
11600 Hazelbrand Rd NE, Covington, GA 30014

The meeting will primarily be conducted at the Alcovy Conservation Center, which is located near the property entrance by the parking lot. Directions from I-20:  Take Exit #93. Turn north off exit ramp onto John R Williams Highway 142. Turn right onto Hazelbrand Road (at the intersection with Home Depot). Travel approximately 1.5 miles.  Cross over the Cornish Creek Bridge and turn right into the GWF driveway (across from the Hazelbrand Road Recycling Center). You can park vehicles in the available spots in the lot or south of the center in the grassy field along the power line right of way. Google Maps.

MEALS: Lunch on Thursday is included in your registration fee as well as coffee and snacks at the breaks. The Thursday night dinner is a catered BBQ. You must buy a $15 dinner ticket by February 18th so we can ensure there is enough food for attendees.

LODGING: There are a number of conveniently located hotels along I-20 in Covington. Options include Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, and Travelodge among others.

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

We’re looking for presenters to give agency updates, research presentations, and poster presentations! If you would like to feature your work with a presentation or poster, please submit your abstracts by February 4, 2022. Please email Krisha Whiting at krishawhiting@gmail.com with any questions.

STUDENT TRAVEL AWARDS

GA TWS will offer travel grants for students to participate in the Georgia Chapter of The Wildlife Society Annual Meeting. Applicants must be current Georgia Chapter members, and preference will be given to students who will be presenting at the meeting. To apply for this travel award, complete this form by January 21, 2022.

PROFESSIONAL AWARDS

GA TWS periodically awards the GA TWS Early Career Award in Honor of Dr. Bob Warren and the Jenkins-Crockford-Hayes Wildlife Conservation Award. Please visit this page for more information. Nominees must be current Georgia Chapter members to receive awards. The deadline to submit nomination packages to Andrew Edelman at aedelman@westga.edu has been extended to January 21, 2022.
