Upcoming Meetings

The Arkansas Chapter’s annual meeting will be held February 26-28, 2025.

Now that the holidays have passed, THE TIME IS NOW! Registration for the Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) of the Arkansas Chapters of The Wildlife Society and the American Fisheries Society, is LIVE!
Attendees will be able to learn more broadly about conservation work being conducted across the state, to open up collaboration opportunities, and to interact with professionals from different fields. In short, we are BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS by bringing both societies together. That also happens to be this year’s theme! The meeting will feature joint and separate sessions with talks of interest to both societies, a professional development opportunity open to all participants, two evening socials, and organized opportunities for students to network with professionals and vice versa.
Field Tours:

We will kick off the meeting with two optional field tours from 9-11am on 2/26. One will tour Lake Conway renovation work and the other will tour Central Arkansas Water dam removal sites. You may sign up for these when registering. More information will be forthcoming!

Professional Development Training:

The professional development opportunity is going to be a workshop on 2/27 on how to navigate difficult conversations, hosted by Dr. Julien Mirivel, Professor of Applied Communication, from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In the 2-hour workshop, participants will learn to:
1. Harness the power of positive communication in their interaction with others.
2. Manage difficult conversations.
3. Promote honest dialogue and lead positively.
To support these learning goals, Dr. Mirivel will offer an interactive and engaging program to train participants to communicate more positively and effectively. The workshop will include:
• A proven research-based system for communicating more effectively.
• Practical and meaningful exercises to improve participants’ communication.
• A learning experience designed to inspire change in participants’ communication skills.
