Wildlife Photo Gallery and Contest: Register now!

Between iPhones and game cameras it’s become easier than ever to capture candid shots of wild creatures. Whether you’re an avid wildlife photographer or a biologist who snapped an impromptu picture in the field this past year, the Wildlife Photo Gallery and Contest is the perfect opportunity to share your favorite images.

A $50 prize will be awarded to the winner of each category, $75 for People’s Choice, and a grand prize of $100 will go to the Best-in-Show photographer.

Category winners and Best-in-Show will be determined by a panel of selected judges, and conference attendees will vote for a People’s Choice winner as they roam the gallery and enjoy each unique perspective on wildlife.

This year’s nine categories consist of Amphibians & Reptiles, Birds, Invertebrates, Mammals, Game Cam, Human Dimensions, Landscapes & Still Life (including flora), Mobile Phone, and Creative/Comedic. Registrants can submit two photographs per category and the cost of entry is $5 per photograph.

Photographs must be submitted with the entry form on twsconference.org by Sept. 15, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Walk-up submissions will not be accepted. However, participants will still be required to submit hard copy photographs and payment on-site at the conference.

Judging will take place at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 18, and will evaluate impact, clarity, composition, contrast, setting and lighting of the photos. Winners will be announced at the keynote speaker session Wednesday morning, Oct. 19. All registrants are invited to pick up their photos between 2 – 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Unclaimed photographs will not be returned.

Visit twsconference.org for more details and to register. Photo contest registration closes Thursday, Sept. 15, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Contact Nick Wesdock, Operations Assistant, at nwesdock@wildlife.org if you have any questions.
