Henry S. Mosby Professional Wildlifer Award: Given to a professional wildlife biologist. It may be given on the basis of a number of years of significant, sustained contributions to wildlife biology or on the basis of a single very significant contribution.

Willis Robertson Citizen Conservation Award: Given to a non-professional who has exercised outstanding conservation practices on his own land or who has made significant contributions to conservation activities in the Commonwealth.

The VATWS is currently accepting nominations for the Henry S. Mosby Professional Wildlifer Award and the Willis Robertson Citizen Conservation Award. The deadline for nominations is December 29, 2017. Download the nomination form.

Note: Elizabeth R. Stinson, Virginia Chapter member, in 1992 received the SE Section of The Wildlife Society’s Wildlife Management Award for her outstanding work documenting the deleterious effects of the insecticide Furadan to non-target species. This work eventually resulted in the removal of Furadan as a granular product from commercial markets in the US.

Virginia Chapter of The Wildlife Society “Excellence in Wildlife Stewardship through Science and Education” Scholarship

The Virginia Chapter of The Wildlife Society, will award one $500 scholarship to a junior or senior enrolled at a Virginia college or university this year. The purpose of the scholarship is to reward a student who has the potential to make significant contributions to the field of wildlife management. The scholarship will be awarded at the annual meeting of the Virginia Chapter.

The VATWS is currently accepting scholarship applications. The submission deadline is December 29, 2017. Download the scholarship application.
